About

Our Journey

We met in 2003 at a Young Life camp in Jasper, GA. We were bringing our high school friends up to Sharptop Cove to introduce them to the God we are crazy about. After that weekend Jess was smitten and after weeks of running into each other and years of dating we got married in 2005 and moved to a small town north of the city.

After marriage we worked, hung out with high school and college students and spent weekends on the water. We loved our jobs and loved volunteering with Young Life and in 2009 bought a house 5 miles from the high school we volunteered at and were extremely excited to provide a refuge for high school and college kids and eventually our own kids. That same year Jess got pregnant and carried the baby for 14 weeks.  After 14 weeks on November 23, 2009 we rushed to the emergency room for an emergency D&C. After this miscarriage we began looking into adoption. We knew we wanted to adopt as well as conceive so why wait? We bothered friends and strangers who knew anything about adoption – we met friends of friends for coffee and soaked up all the information we could. We weren’t sure which route was the right one but felt like this was a step in the right direction.

Two years of going to meeting after meeting nothing seemed to fit right. We looked at DFCS, foster care as well as an agency. At dinner one night a friend of Jess’ mentioned an adoption consultant. Jess wrote it off but over the next few weeks the exact same adoption consultant came up in a few different conversations with different people. Finally we decided to call the consultant and we both asked a ridiculous amount of questions. And weeks later we signed the contract and almost a month later we finished our home study. And here we are…so excited that this is our path and praying for this child we will hopefully bring home soon! We ask that you join us on this journey. We feel like we are walking in the dark and learning something new every day. We started this blog to keep our friends and family updated on this adventure. Come on!
